Obituary for Bernice A. Elliott

BERNICE A. ELLIOTT Bernice A. (Pike) Elliott, 88, of Nashua, widow of Wilfred A. Elliott, and formerly of South Merrimack and Hudson, died at her home, Thursday afternoon, October 11, 2012, after a period of declining health. A daughter of the late Leon D. and Cora I. (Melvin) Pike, she was born and raised on Tinker Road in South Merrimack, NH, and was educated in local schools. Bernice and her husband Wilfred, were married on November 2, 1947 at the former South Merrimack Congregational Church. The Elliott’s made their home on Pelham Road in Hudson from 1947 to 1984 before relocating to their retirement home at Oak Hill, Florida in the New Smyrna Beach area from 1985 to 1995. Bernice was a homemaker and had also worked for a time at the former New England Bobbin and Shuttle Company in Nashua from 1946 to 1956. Mrs. Elliott loved spending time with her family including her seven children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed photo albums and watching her favorite shows on television including Lawrence Welk, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, who died in February 1991; her three brothers, Leon D. Pike, Jr., Francis E. Pike and Forest D. Pike; and her sister, Arlean M. Pike. Members of her family include her seven children, Judith A. Brown and her husband Glenn of Hudson, William A. Elliott of Hillsboro, Susan A. Elliott-Kent of New London, NH, Robert A. Elliott and his wife Susannah of Chocorua, NH, Sandra A. McNeil of Merrimack, Joseph A. Elliott of Pepperell, MA and Terri A. Maccini and her husband James of Nashua; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Anita Pike of Hudson and Shirley Elliott of Nashua; also many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Her funeral service will be held in the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church, 517 Boston Post Road in Merrimack, Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at Hills Farms Cemetery in Hudson. Family and friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church.
