Carol Dube
The world lost a beautiful woman with a kind-hearted soul on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 when Carol Ruth (Schwarzenberg) Dube, age 55, of Nashua, NH passed away. She was surrounded by people who love her and passed peacefully at the Merrimack Community Hospice House following a 5 year courageous battle with sarcoma cancer. Taken from us sooner than we wanted, we think heaven needed an energetic and fun soul to spice things up. Heaven will definitely get that with Carol. She was born on February 10, 1960 in Lawrence, MA to parents Edmund W. Schwarzenberg and Lillian R. (Ritter) Schwarzenberg. She attended Methuen public schools before earning her Bachelor of Science in Math at University of Lowell in 1981. She joined the Raytheon Company, a defense contract company, in 1981 where she worked for 32 years as a Principal Software Engineer. Carol was a loving wife to Thomas M. Dube. They were married on May 28, 1983 in Lawrence, MA and spent 32 wonderful years together. Carol was an incredible mother to her three children and everyone’s best friend. Carol was always busy filling her life with activities and people she loved. She is known for putting the needs of others before her own. She fought cancer with unbelievable bravery, strength, and positivity. She was extremely organized and just the nicest person to everyone. She enjoyed being outdoors. Carol loved kayaking with friends, gardening, and bird watching. Her blueberry bushes were a sacred spot for her. She was devout to her church and was an original member of the Nashua Presbyterian Church where she served as an ordained deacon, ordained church elder, and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Women’s Activity group, Peace by Piece quilting group, secretary of the Nurture Working Group, and actively participated in most other social activities. She was a recipient of the Sarah Puglisi Award in 2014. With all of these activities and hobbies, you would think that all of her time would be filled; however, she always found time to spend with family and friends. She enjoyed baking and she liked to order dessert first because, “Life is too short to skip dessert.” She had fun playing cards with family and friends; she was always the scorekeeper who we loved to joke around with because she usually won! Her adventurous personality kept us on our toes and she was always willing to try new things. Whenever we would get lost driving, she would exclaim, “We’re not lost- we’re on an adventure!!” Her fun-loving nature is sorely missed. Carol is survived by her husband Tom; children Michael Dube, Michelle and her husband Brad Dressler, and Timothy Dube; her parents Edmund and Lillian Schwarzenberg of Methuen, MA; Auntie Ruth Lange of Lawrence, MA; brother Carl and wife Carol Schwarzenberg of Rapid City, SD; brother Roy and wife Julie Schwarzenberg of Frederick, MD; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. The smile on her face, her actions, and her words highlighted a life full of faith, compassion, personal integrity, and benevolence. The impact she has left on our lives will only intensify with time. Carol will be missed by many and remembered as an inspirational woman who positively and graciously enjoyed life, though she (and everyone else) wished it was longer.
